About Band

Amberdeen are an independent, four piece, acoustic/indie/punk band out of Sydney, NSW. Amberdeen mix and experiment with both indie and punk genres. With comparisons to Anti-Flag, Hot Hot Heat and Kisschasy (, Amberdeen are different to anything else you’ve heard. By using both electric and acoustic guitars they have captured a sound that is truly unique.

Amberdeen began carving out a presence in the Sydney scene in 2006. Throughout the year Amberdeen played HOME Nightclub, The Lansdowne, The Attic, The Embassy Hotel plus youth festivals Enliven and Ignite. They supported Behind Crimson Eyes on their Shakedown Tour in October and also graced the stage with the likes of The Valley, Another Day Down, The Veld and Fingerprint Resistant.

In October Amberdeen independently recorded and distributed their debut EP titled “Not Forgotten Freedom”. The first track “Stay Where You Are” was instantly added to rotation of FBi 94.5 and graced the airwaves of Triple J, SWR, B Rock (Bathurst) and other community stations. The indie rock track was so infectious that it was chosen out of thousands by Sony reps as one of ten Sony BMG ‘Hottest Picks’ in the currently running ‘Uncharted’ Competition.

Amberdeen kicked off 2007, by going to Orange to play the Get Punked Festival. The reception of the all ages crowd was so fantastic that they returned in March for another all ages show. In between however they found the time to support Something With Numbers at the Embassy Hotel and begin work on a new release for late 2007. So consequently the story continues…

Some things that have been said about Amberdeen and their debut EP…

“Amberdeen have created a unique sound, which slowly grows on you. Dying Breed, is by far the best track on the EP; it is the epitome of Indie-Punk, with a great riff, dance-inducing verses and a punchy chorus. Track Three, For Tonight, follows 'Dying Breed' like a one-two punch” – KILL YOUR STEREO.COM

“Their EP Not Forgotten Freedom is one worth picking up.” – FASTERLOUDER.COM

“Amberdeen are Sydney’s alternative punk kids” – THE BRAG
